Bill Gross was once quoted as saying “the cult of equity is dying,” and “stocks are dead!” Since these headlines in 2009-2011 the market has increased by about 30%. Let’s look back 30 more years to 1979. BusinessWeek slaps the headline “The Death of Equities” on the cover of their August issue. In a much similar fashion, the stock market started to grow. Equities were in fact not dead, and the headline seemed to have more of a reverse effect than anticipated.
